Few situations are more anxiety-inducing for therapists than worrying that a client may be violent. In Texas, therapists are permitted to contact police or medical authorities if they believe a client is a risk to self or others, and recently the governor encouraged us to exercise this option. However, there is currently no guaranteed protection for making such "good faith" reports. This presentation will help clinicians increase their skill and confidence in assessing risk of violence and familiarize them with their options in potential duty to warn situations.
